My evaluation for my draft

Evaluation
Firstly, before starting my draft double page spread I had to firstly research, learn about journalism skills, InDesign skills, and web publishing and audience feedback.

Research
During my research stage I had to research about how piracy has destroyed the music industry. I have carried out mostly primary research by having a debate and furthermore I have mainly used secondary research such as websites. An example would be the BBC website and other which are included in bibliography. I had to use some American statistics as I couldn’t find the statistics for UK.

Journalism skills
We did not really spend a mas amount of time exploring the different types of tools a journalist would use however we have covered the basics such as picking a target audience, tone, language (formal or informal) gender, age, gratifications and demographics. We also had to pick how we are going to communicate our message across or how would a magazine or newspaper. This could be through 1st or 3rd person, language and sentence structure.
Firstly I have aimed my article at a younger audience between 16-24 and made for MTV, however I have realised that my article’s audience changed due to the high end vocabulary used. Then I have adapted my article for a newspaper article which then led to an older audience, perhaps 26-40.
I have made my article by using both 1st person and 3rd person to engage with the reader more.

InDesign Skills
InDesign was a really fun desktop publisher to use. I found it quiet easy as I had experienced with outer publishers which are quiet similar form the same company, for example Photoshop. InDesign I have used layers to make my work easy to edit when needed. I have included columns however I realised that they were to long for a newspaper article, and included pictures from the internet.
I have used another desktop publisher to help me with spelling and that was a word-processing such as Microsoft Word. This word processor helped me with spelling and grammar.
All though I have used many tools I wished I could also have used tools such as headers, captions and drop caps which may have made my newspaper article seem easier to read.

Web publisher
I have never use a web publisher so I thought it was going to be hard/ challenging however once I experiment it with it made it quite easy and fun to use. I have learned how to use “Blogger” by posting a few blogs; however I have not used as much as I could of.

Audience feedback
I agree to my feedback as my columns arrangement could of have been improved. They have also stated that I have kind of slipped away and not fully typed the article for the audience group which I have chosen. I have firstly chosen an audience in the range of 16-24 years old, however I realised that I have used much advanced vocabulary which made it seemed aimed at an older audience.

4 Targets for my real coursework:
  1.   ill have to stick to a target audience.
  2. Make sure my layout is appropriate to the article made for, therefore a magazine.
  3.  Have a clear understanding of how present the double spread my target audience. For example appropriate language and pictures.
  4. Try to improve InDesign skills and use more tools than just the basics.

DRAFT Piracy article

These are drafts, where i realised that is not really matching my target audience so I am going to change it so it appeals to my target audience. This has been also an experiment on InDesign.
